Music is another way of telling stories or expressing your feelings; it touches us emotionally. If my life had a soundtrack playing in the background, it would be composed mainly of instrumental music. The amazing thing about instrumentals is its ability to convey and elicit emotions without words. It fits me as sometimes I have trouble verbally communicating my feelings, nor at times do I want to. Yet music like this portrays the unspoken ideas that dwell in the heart. However I am feeling or whatever I am thinking at the moment is what that song means to me; the story behind the music is my story. There are no lyrics to dictate what the song is about; the meaning and story are left to my own interpretations.
I find it interesting that some people seem incapable of listening to instrumental music. Can people not understand a song without directly being told its meaning through the lyrics? What is more interesting is how a mere collection of sounds gets associated in our brain with images, memories, experiences, stories, emotions…
